Weather or Not

For the first time since I’ve been in China I saw snow. It was pretty exciting to wake up and see the white ground. It was gone and sunny by 10:30 in the morning but the cold stayed. I reached into my fridge to grab a drink yesterday and it felt warm. Not because the fridge was broken. Not because I had just put the drink in the fridge. No, it was because my kitchen (and my hand for that matter) was actually colder than the fridge! The fridge felt warm! Two days ago I could have been wearing shorts.

This is a typical sight when taking things out of a Chinese washing machine. Completely brutal on clothes. The good thing is that you don't have to worry about dropping anything on the floor when going to hang them up to dry. Shirts usually have an added 8 inches by the end of a year. A dryer would probably reverse most of the effect but the Sun doesn't have a similar effect.

These were some girls who helped out by doing a skit at our Christmas party. This is just after a practice. They made it up with only a simple explanation of the St. Nicholas story. The girl in the pink near the middle was St. Nicholas since there were no boys in the group. They were great! I think that Chinese students can be very creative and really love to be when they are given the chance. I think my groups were the best performances but I'm a little biased.

Hi Caleb- the snow is to make you feel more at home. Funny, I never think about snow in China.
