Holiland

I went to Burger King tonight with my roommate and another new friend here at the YMCA in Thailand. It was interesting because when we got our long expected food two Western looking girls came up and put their bags near the table next to us and asked us in un-American English to watch them while they ordered. We obliged. Turned out they were from Israel. One was a Russian Jew who's family had moved to Israel.

They told us a little about what it was like in Israel. They live in constant fear. They were so surprised that they didn't have to show anybody their bags at the door of Burger King. They mentioned that they feel like they're in a bubble here away from all the violence. One of them said that they "get used to it" because just about every month they have a missile shot at them.

We went to get some ice cream and asked if they wanted any but they said that it wasn't kosher to eat milk after eating meat. Apparently modern science has shown that it's not good for you to do so. They've been doing it throughout their history. They must have a great physician guiding their practices!
