Dumplings

Two of my students came over for the afternoon to teach me how to make Chinese dumplings. One day in the caf I was rushing through to get something to eat and saw these two students and they asked if I liked dumplings because I was eating them. I said that I did but that these dumpling were really gross and I was only eating them because they are fast to order and I was in a rush. So they offered to teach me how to make some tasty ones.

Translated, dumplings are "jiao zi" and are one of the most typical Chinese foods especially in the North where rice only had one season in the old days.

We cut the veggies and meat into small pieces and then put them together. The meat gets cut or almost like tenderized with a knife so that it is just like mush. This way it is able to be put into the dumplings easily

These are really huge jiao zi! Usually they are much smaller but Sammy's mother is from the North and I guess they make them bigger there. This one is big for any standard.
